Marathon Madness at Delta-Simons
16th May 2011
This week, four colleagues from Lincoln-based Delta-Simons Environmental Consultants will be taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon, hoping to raise over £2,500 for charity.
The Edinburgh Marathon, which was launched in 2003, is now the second largest in the UK and will be held on 22nd May with an estimated 15,000 entrants.
Alan Crossfield, Jayne Pearson, Roger Griffiths and John Rhoades from Delta-Simons will be running the Edinburgh marathon for the first time and are hoping to raise substantial sums for their own charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Cancer Research UK, HOPE, Mountain Rescue England, and Dogs for the Disabled.
Roger Griffiths, Director at Delta-Simons is looking forward to the event; “After taking part in the London Marathon in 1999 I never imagined I would find myself competing in another marathon ever again! but we are all very excited about this challenge and have been training together most weekends and lunchtimes for the last six months. As well as helping us all get in shape for the summer we are all supporting some fantastic charities and completing the course will be a real personal achievement for all of us.”
Delta-Simons, which has an office located in the heart of Edinburgh, has sponsored each of the runners and supported them through their gruelling training process. “Giving up so much free time to train and take part in a marathon for charity is a huge personal commitment and we are very proud of the team. We wish them the very best of luck and success for this week’s event” Gareth Pickles, Managing Director.
