Travel Offsets for Coca Cola Brazil
Sao Paulo, Brazil and Lincoln, UK - Shining Earth™, the sustainability division of Delta-Simons, Inogen's UK Associate and Brazilian Associate Angel Ambiental, have recently worked together on a carbon offsetting exercise for one of Angel's clients Coca Cola Brazil. The two Associates have been working with Coca Cola Brazil to record and calculate all carbon emissions associated with travel to and from Coca Cola's Second Supply Chain Seminar which took place in the city of Atibaia, 70 km from Sao Paulo on 12th May 2010. More than 120 Coca Cola Brazil suppliers were present to discuss current and future issues surrounding their supply chain.
Shining Earth™ developed a unique web site that allowed delegates to the Supply Chain Seminar to record the distance they travelled and the type of transportation used to and from the event. Shining Earth™ concluded by delivering a final report evaluating the sources of emissions and the total amount of transport related carbon emitted.
"This initiative is totally aligned with the Brazilian Division’s four strategical pillars - integration, customisation, sustainability and efficiency. The sustainability issues have to be incorporated into all aspects of our supply chain as well." stated Josemar Picanço, Environmental Manager of the Coca Cola Brazil Division.
"The transport related emissions from the event will be offset in one of Coca Cola Brazil's reforestation projects, that also include a number of other measures to improve the water quality in selected watersheds in Brazil," concluded Mr. Picanço.
"This project was a very fortunate combination of two Inogen Associates efforts and resources" states Hilton Lucio, General Director of Angel Ambiental.
"Delta-Simons, Shining Earth had all the technical expertise already developed, and Angel Ambiental was able to help in providing the necessary local resources. The client benefited with smaller costs for project development and high quality local resources."
