Message from the President
Dear reader,
While I am writing this welcome the Copenhagen climate summit is 6 months behind us. Copenhagen has been widely considered a failure, but one can question the possibility of meeting the incredibly high expectations that were set. Getting 192 countries aligned on an issue that affects us all, but in such different ways might be a step too far. When it also became apparent that some climate scientists had been less than careful with data and conclusions it seemed for a moment that climate sceptics had won the day. However, we are not seeing the topic disappearing from the corporate agenda, which to me means that the issue is real and that there continues to be a will to do something about climate change; and maybe some of the conclusions drawn by those scientists were at the edge of credibility, but the overwhelming bulk of scientific evidence is sound. The changing climate will affect us all and it will affect the businesses we run, both positively and negatively.
At our Inogen WorldView® Conference on the 21st of October 2010 in Melbourne we will again focus on climate change. As always we will take the corporate view, looking at what companies are doing already to prevent climate change and what can be done to prepare for a changing climate. We will create an environment in which our clients can learn and share. We will have a line-up of impressive speakers from a wide range of sectors, both industry and services. We do realise Australia is a long way to travel for most people and even though we will compensate the carbon footprint of the event we understand not everyone will be able to attend. For those who can not be there we will record the event and distribute DVDs, much like we did with our Copenhagen Inogen WorldView®. Watch our renewed website for status and updates!
Since our last Inogen Insights we have formally admitted Senes into the Alliance. Senes provides us with a network of offices in Canada and in India. Inogen’s strategy has always been to provide support in every significant economy and with Senes we now have a very good Associate in India.
I wish you all a great Summer, and look forward to seeing you in Melbourne in October.
Peter Penning
Inogen President
