Delta Consultants Leads Source Water Protection Programs

Eurasia and Africa - Delta Consultants, the US Inogen Associate, has been contracted to lead the development of Source Water Protection Programs (SWPPs) for several facilities in Eurasia and Africa that provide bottling services to one of the world's largest beverage companies. The work is a cooperative effort among Delta Consultants, the Global Corporate Consultancy (an Oranjewoud N.V. Business Group) and other Inogen members.

The goal of the beverage company's overall source water evaluation and risk mitigation program is to ensure adequate supplies of high quality source water well into the future. The SWPPs are a combination of hydrogeological studies, stakeholder engagement, training and strategy development. The programs must be completed based on a water resource sustainability standard developed by the company to which all of its production facilities must comply.

"At this time, we are engaged on projects in Azerbaijan, Kenya, Ghana, Zambia, Afghanistan and Pakistan," notes Peter Penning, Inogen CEO and Partner with the Global Corporate Consultancy. "In most of these countries, we are the only organisation capable of delivering these services."

The Inogen team was the ideal choice for the SWPP work due to its intimate knowledge of the process, its geographic spread and local experts across the region. The current SWPP engagements have the potential to roll out to more than 300 plants across Eurasia and Africa.

Delta is also in the process of developing a summary set of best management practices to assist the beverage company in implementing the SWPPS across multiple business groups around the globe. The project team is combining its broad knowledge of source water sustainability practices and also reviewing previously completed SWPPs from across the organisation to identify best management practices that will provide insights for those yet to do the work.
