Delta Consultants Provides Sustainable Winegrowing Audits

SAN FRANCISCO. August 20, 2010 - Delta Consultants now provides third-party verification audits for Certified California Sustainable Winegrowing (CCSW-Certified) practices. As one of the first companies to provide CCSW-Certified audits, Delta maintains three CCSW-Certified accredited auditors certified by the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance (CSWA).
Delta auditors assist wineries and vineyards to achieve CCSW-Certified status by verifying existing practices or helping to establish standards that promote long term sustainability of the California wine industry.
"In our view, incorporating sustainability into daily operations is not about altering the operational structure of a business," says Garrett Griffiths, CCSW-Certified accredited auditor. "Nor should sustainability be considered an add-on, new department, or new initiative. Sustainability is about understanding your operation's impact on society and the environment, and appropriately integrating these considerations into routine business decision-making.
"Furthermore, today's consumers are acutely conscious of how their purchases impact the environment and are increasingly likely to spend their dollars on products produced by socially responsible organizations."
CSWA members desiring certification as a sustainable wine growing operation are required to complete a series of self-audits developed by the CSWA, and then have them assessed by third-party CCSW-Certified accredited auditors.
