Delta-Simons Relay Team Complete Charity Challenge
July 2010
Alex Ferguson, James Harris and Alan Crossfield from Delta-Simons successfully competed in their first relay event at the King Sturge Charity Property Triathlon last Friday at Dorney Lake, Eton - the venue for the 2012 Olymipic Games rowing event. The Triathlon is an annual event hosted in partnership with Property Week and was originally established in 1997
This year a total of 2,200 people competed in the event making up 331 teams with a further 1,127 individual competitors, each competing a gruelling 750m swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run, in scorching weather on Friday 9th July. The Delta-Simons team finished an impressive 16th out of 150 teams in their group and 94th out of approximately 1,500 overall. The team is absolutely delighted with its performance as it is the first time they have competed in such an event.
Alex Ferguson, Projects Director at Delta-Simons stepped in at the last minute to help the Crown Estate/SJ Berwin team and competed in the 750m swim leg of the triathlon twice! Alex comments "It was a fantastic day, and the weather was perfect. Delta-Simons staff tend to be better known for their 'social skills' than athletic abilities and I was certainly tested on the day competing in two races but thoroughly enjoyed it. We will definitely be competing in next year's event."
Delta-Simons has been supporting the official event charities through the 1760 Appeal. The Children's Charity is the UK's leading centre for children with multiple disabilities and in particular, children with acquired brain injury, and Orchid is the only UK charity to focus entirely on the three uniquely male cancers; prostate, penile and testicular cancer operating since 1996.
