ESD China Limited has been awarded for a $4M national pilot study contract for heavy metal remediation in China. The contract is to demonstrate and replicate, if successful, an integrated remediation approach for heavy metal contamination of agriculture lands from historical mining activities. Because this is a national priority demonstration contract and has important strategically value, the contract is highly competitive with over 70 competitors participating in the bids.
Specifically, the pilot study site is located at one of the six national priority heavy metal pollution regions, the soil is primarily contaminant with Cd and Sn from over 3000 years of mining activities. The demonstration is to test ESD proposed integrated eco-remediation approach to tackle heavy metal contamination in agricultural land, which has become both an environmental and social-economical issue in China. If successful, the approach will be promoted and replicate throughout the national at locations with similar heavy metal contamination.
