News // ESC off to a Flying Start in 2012

Date // 12th March 2012

ESC has made a successful start to 2012 and has been awarded contracts to complete Environmental Baseline Studies (EBS), Pollution Control Studies (PCS) and Quantative Risk Assessments (QRA) for Shell, Sinopec and Total for their new lube oil facilities in Singapore.  In addition, ESC's long time consultancy support to Jurong Aromatics Corporation (JAC) continues after being appointed to prepare all documentation to meet project financing requirements under the equator principals for their forthcoming aromatics plant on Jurong Island, Singapore, which once completed will be the world's largest privately owned aromatics refinery.

Demonstrating the value of the Inogen Alliance, ESC is working with the Antea Group to provide EHS  audits at two Singapore facilities later in 2012.

On March 13th ESC was appointed to undertake an air quality project in Singapore to establish an environmental baseline of ambient and indoor air quality parameters in workers dorms located close to open grit blasting sites.  The study will demonstrate and recommend effective dust abatement measures for workers' dormitories and the approach will be through a combination of air dispersion modelling simulations and pilot monitoring trials at the specified survey sites.

Recently completed ESC projects include ISO14064 GHG accounting for the EnGro Corporation (a major regional cement and concrete manufacturer and long time client of ESC) and ESC will continue to guide them through their Phase II optimisation and implementation later in the year.

ESC's sustainability department has been busy with the launch of its CSR and EMS services which also compliments their newest offerings in green buildings consultancy that provide SME's with the assistance they need to begin their low carbon journey within the Singapore green economy.

Aside to this, ESC attended the 10th Anniversary Ceremony of Project Eco-Office in February. This project is operated by the Singapore Environmental Council (SEC) and ESC have been the official auditors since the start of the scheme. The ceremony was attended by leading Government and business representatives who witnessed the latest batch of more than 60 companies receive their certificates for 2011 achievements - another 100 companies are targeted for the scheme this coming year!
