News // Antea Group Delivers Environment, Health and Safety Insight to Automotive Suppliers Through a Workshop Focused on Global Regulatory Challenges and Practical Solutions

Date // 1st May 2012

Troy, Michigan

In May, Antea Group hosted a workshop in Troy, Michigan, USA to provide a useful perspective on environment, health and safety (EHS) regulatory topics to a group of automotive suppliers with global operations.

The half-day event, extended to Original Equipment Supplier Association (OESA) members, featured presentations on emerging EHS challenges in key geographies including the European Union, eastern Europe, China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Brazil. Contributing expertise to presentations and discussion panels were select associates native to these geographies from the Inogen Environmental Alliance, including Angel Ambiental, Antea Group, Denkstatt, EnviroSolutions Consulting and ESD China.

"Effective management of manufacturing operations in the face of ever-changing global regulation is a complex undertaking," says Jerry Hincka, Senior Consultant & Automotive Segment Leader for Antea Group.

"In-country understanding of local requirements and dynamic developments is critical for maintaining compliance and avoiding business interruption. It's our hope that, as an affiliate member of OESA, we can help provide a forum for sharing applicable insights and actionable solutions for the EHS issues most relevant to the automotive supplier community."

Workshop content was tailored to the interests of the attendees, which resulted in an emphasis on legal and regulatory frameworks, contaminated site management and waste management practices. In attendance were representatives from Cooper Standard, Delphi, Dow Automotive, Lear Corporation, and TRW Automotive to name a few of the 20 attending companies.

Workshop feedback was highly positive with attendees appreciating the comprehensiveness of the information provided and the use of real-life examples.

"I found the Inogen Environmental Alliance presentations to be extremely helpful. We are a relatively new player in the global market, and understanding the potential impact that EHS regulation as well as labor laws can have on our business is critical to minimizing our risk in so many different regions."

The success of the event has sparked interest in reproducing this workshop in other countries with large automotive industry operations, and discussions are currently underway to decide the next workshop location and timing.
